Top 5 Best Military History Colleges for Veterans
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Citadel Military College of South Carolina. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Military History list. The Citadel is a public institution located in Charleston, South Carolina. The school has a small population, and it awarded 3 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at The Citadel, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 3,740 students enrolled at The Citadel, 607 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 382 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $7,997. To help with additional expenses, 12 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Norwich University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Military History list. Norwich is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Northfield, Vermont. It awarded 32 ’s military history degrees in 2020-2021.
Norwich not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 3,975 students enrolled at Norwich University, 822 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 569 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,528. On top of their other funding sources, 55 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Marquette University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It awarded 2 ’s military history degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our vets studying military history list, Marquette has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, Marquette University supports 11,550 students, and 140 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 93 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $15,404. On top of their other funding sources, 30 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 88%.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend American Public University System. The school came in at #4 for the Most Veteran Friendly for Military History. Located in Charles Town, West Virginia, this large private for-profit school handed out 106 degrees to qualified ’s military history students in 2020-2021.
American Military University not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.According to our most recent data, American Military University supports 50,047 students, and 18,040 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 15,422 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $3,793. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. American Military University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 98%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.
