In 2020-2021, 32,731 people earned their degree in history, making the major the 30th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, history graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $30,467 and had an average of $23,587 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 5,603 history graduates with average earnings and debt of $31,162 and $23,666 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for History” ranking looked at 76 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in history. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality history programs as well as strong veteran support.

Princeton University came in at #23 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for History ranking. Princeton is a medium-sized school located in Princeton, New Jersey that handed out 76 ’s history degrees in 2020-2021.
