In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
For this year’s “Schools Highly Focused on IT Major” ranking, we looked at 907 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This a ranking of the schools where the largest percentage of students has enrolled in information technology.

Out of the 907 schools in the Schools Highly Focused on IT Major that were part of this year’s ranking, Capitol Technology University landed the #1 spot on the list. Laurel, Maryland is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s IT degrees to 103 students in 2020-2021.
