2022 Best Value Master’s Degree Colleges for Accounting
When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. One of our goals at College Factual is to give you as much information as we can - such as our “Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s” ranking - to help you make that decision.
In 2019-2020, 101,094 accounting students received their degree, making the major the 8th most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,557 and had an average of $26,381 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 19,027 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 471 colleges that offer a degree in accounting. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent accounting programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the accounting program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

BYU excels when it comes to accounting quality. It’s in the top 10% of all schools reviewed in that analysis. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at Brigham Young University - Provo are $7,510.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Western Governors University. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s list. Western Governors University is a large school located in Salt Lake City, Utah that handed out 264 masters’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

Out of the 471 schools in the Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Scranton landed the #3 spot on the list. University of Scranton is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It awarded 115 masters’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Drake University. It ranked #4 on our 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s list. Drake University is a private not-for-profit institution located in Des Moines, Iowa. The school has a small population, and it awarded 20 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Drake excels when it comes to accounting quality. It’s ranked in the top 10% of all schools on our “Best Accounting Master’s Degree Schools” list. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at Drake University are $11,932.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Colorado State University - Global Campus. It ranked #5 on our 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s list. This fairly large school is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and it awarded 139 masters’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

University of Phoenix - Arizona did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #9. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out masters’s accounting degrees to 246 students in 2019-2020.

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #10. This medium-sized school is located in Winona, Minnesota, and it awarded 42 masters’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

Liberty University ranked #11 on this year’s Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s list. Liberty University is located in Lynchburg, Virginia and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 202 masters’s accounting degrees to qualified students.

Northern Illinois University came in at #12 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s ranking. Purdue University Global ranked #19 on this year’s Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s list. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, this large public school awarded 78 diplomas to qualified masters’s accounting students in 2019-2020.

Butler University did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #20. Indianapolis, Indiana is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s accounting degrees to 23 students in 2019-2020.
Butler also claimed a top spot on our “Best Accounting Master’s Degree Schools” list. It’s in the top 20% of all schools reviewed in that analysis. Average graduate tuition and fees at Butler University are $13,716, but some majors have different tuition rates.
With a ranking of #20, University of South Dakota did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s list. Located in Vermillion, South Dakota, this medium-sized public school handed out 37 degrees to qualified masters’s accounting students in 2019-2020.

Oklahoma Christian University landed the #23 spot on the 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s ranking. This small school is located in Edmond, Oklahoma, and it awarded 15 masters’s accounting degrees in 2019-2020.

Minnesota State University - Mankato did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Accounting Schools for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #24.
